The History of the Ark of the Covenant

The Ark of the Covenant Spiritual Baptist Church is firmly grounded in the teachings of the Spiritual Baptist faith, with the Bible serving as the cornerstone of our instruction. This spiritual haven was first established at 223 Bowdoin Street, Boston, Massachusetts, on June 18th, 1993, by the visionary guidance of Overseer Reverend Mother Christine Ashby and Pastor Terrance Ashby.

After seven enriching years, our ministry relocated to 373 Washington Street Dorchester, MA 02121. However, divine providence led us to our current permanent home, a dedicated place of worship that is truly our own. We are immensely grateful for this blessing and invite you to join us in this sacred space we have the privilege of calling our own."

On Sunday, June 19th, 2005, we were blessed to consecrate our Sanctuary of Worship at 373 Washington St., Dorchester, MA 02124. Our journey has been filled with challenges and testing times, yet throughout it all, God's guiding presence has been our steady comfort and strength. We are profoundly thankful for His unending blessings, His tender mercies, and His enduring grace that continue to sustain us every day

In our church community, we strive not only to uplift ourselves but also to enhance the wider community as we continually progress. Our most recent accomplishment is the flourishing Youth Ministry, guided by the diligent Abbess Teacher Maver Ashby. This ministry, dedicated to serving the Lord, is growing stronger each day as our young members prepare to fulfill their spiritual duties.

Our Sunday School is a vibrant hub of eager learners. Each child is encouraged to bring their unique talents to the fore as they collectively study the Word of God. Our approach aligns with the wisdom of the African Proverb, 'It takes a village to raise a child.' Additionally, we draw inspiration from the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 11, Verse 6, which states, 'a little child will lead them.'

It is our firm belief and purpose to guide our children—our future—and the broader community towards an ever-evolving world. We hold it as our responsibility to teach our children that God is the cornerstone of our lives, and that our daily existence is sustained by His grace.

Your Generosity.
Our Mission.
